BMW M2 Cup: Calendar confirmed, entries now open

After the successful debut season of the BMW M2 Cup, the one-make trophy is announcing its calendar for 2022. Once again, twelve races on six race weekends are scheduled as part of the DTM’s support programme. With the announcement, the green light for registration in the championship has also been given.

“We are excited to announce the dates for the 2022 season,” said series manager Jörg Michaelis. “Together with BMW M and the DTM, we have put together an exciting, diverse calendar. This fits perfectly, as the international interest in the cup is very high. At the moment, dates are always surrounded by a certain degree of uncertainty, but we are already looking forward to the start of the season.”

The Lausitzring, BMW M’s home game at the Norisring and the Nürburgring will be part of the schedule again in 2022. These tracks are joined by the Red Bull Ring and the finale in Hockenheim. New on the schedule and a real highlight is the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The Belgian Ardennes rollercoaster is known worldwide and is a real driver’s track – and the dream of every racer.

With the announcement of the calendar, the official registration for the second season of the Cup is opened. On the basis of fairness, equal opportunity and transparency, young talents can prove themselves in the BMW M2 CS Racing, the cup’s chosen car. Together with the Speed Academy, the drivers are prepared both physically and mentally for the challenge of motorsport. The participants receive extensive basic training to pave the way for a professional career in racing.

One of the first to take this path in 2022 is Sean Fuster. The young Swiss, who already has some experience from racing in the Rundstrecken Challenge Nürburgring and the Nürburgring Endurance Series, will start in the BMW M2 Cup next season. “I signed up for the one-make trophy because I know that you can put your talent to the test here – and with completely equal chances,” explains the driver from Thal in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. “Another reason is that if you perform well, you will be rewarded. My expectations for the season are that I can learn a lot and prepare well for the races.”

As in the debut season, the one-make trophy again joins the DTM’s support programme and is therefore part of an exclusive motorsport platform. All information about the calendar and registration is available on the official website of the BMW M2 Cup.

Thomas Felbermair, Vice President Sales and Marketing BMW M GmbH:

“The first season of the BMW M2 Cup had a great finale at the Norisring. There was always exciting sport at the highest level to be seen with the BMW M2 CS Racing. That is what makes a successful one-make Cup. Both the performance and the topic of promoting young talents as part of the exclusive DTM environment make the series a figurehead for BMW M. The integration of exclusive customer deliveries as part of the BMW M2 Cup round off the great overall appearance. “
